This Sahara Railway Is One of the Most Extreme in the World

The Mauritania Railway, opened in 1963, includes a single, 704-kilometer (437 mi) train line connecting the iron mining center of Zouerat with the port of Nouadhibou.

Trains on the train depend on 3 kilometers (1.8 mi) in length, making them amongst the longest and heaviest on the planet. Automobile are often connected, however more frequently travelers just ride atop the ore hopper cars and trucks.
