Dianna De La Garza will always remember the scary news she got on July 24: Her child, Demi Lovato, had suffered an overdose .
Her phone began buzzing continuously. Within seconds of glancing at the messages, De La Garza understood something horrible had actually taken place.
“All of these texts began can be found in … text after text after text,” De La Garza remembered to NewsMax TELEVISION on Tuesday, confessing she “shakes a bit” when she reflects to that day. “I remained in shock. I believed, what is going on?”
Eventually, De La Garza got a call from Lovato’s assistant, Kelsey, who alerted her she will see numerous reports about the pop star’s condition. Stressed, De La Garza required to understand what was going on.
“ [She] was rattling on like she had actually clearly been through something awful. … The next words that came out of her mouth were words … that are so challenging to hear as a moms and dad,” De La Garza informed the TELEVISION network. “ She stated,’ Demi overdosed.’ I wasin shock. I didn ’ t understand what to state.”
As a moms and dad, De La Garza stated it was especially ravaging to hear those words.
“I stated, ‘Is she OK?'” De La Garza stated. “She picked up a 2nd and she stated, ‘ She ’ s mindful, however she’ s not talking. ’ I understood at that point that we remained in difficulty.”
De La Garza rapidly informed her household the news and hurried to the healthcare facility, where her child remained in important condition.
“She simply didn ’ t appearance excellent, at all. She remained in bad shape,”De La Garza explained, including that she informed Lovato she enjoyed her.
For about 2 days, De La Garza stated it was touch and go.
“ We simply didn ’ t understand … if she was going to make it or not, ” De La Garza stated. “ I was really worried, and I was attempting to be strong for her. “
But thanks to Lovato’s group of medical professionals, assistance from fans, family and friends, De La Garza enjoyed to see Lovato pull through.
After her healthcare facility stay, the star went into rehabilitation in August. She thanked fans in a declaration on Instagram, where she described she was going to take some time to “focus and recover on [her] sobriety and roadway to healing.”
